A tribute song for her:

A poem for my sweet Nora.

When first we met
An excited paw you gave
My hand held yours
My chest held your face

Smitten.

Those big brown eyes
So loving & kind
A curled black tail with a whisp of white
So silly & stinkin' cute

My first love at "fur"st sight.

Named after a famous singer
Your sweet softness matched
"Melting cold hearts" - a specialty
You adored EVERY person

An only dog at first
So perfect you were though
We adopted two more
A gorgeous & happy trio of fluff

From the Milford Hotel
To Hideaway Valley
Lots of fun adventures as
"The Thompson Pack"

I never worried about you wandering
You enjoyed your alone time
Or found people with snacks & snuggles
A loving laid-back lady through & through

We don't know your story before rescue
But we do know you had 4 boys, 1 girl
The adorable "Midwest Pack" you were called
All floofs adopted thanks to the Van Os' fosters

Favorite past times of yours were
Rolling in snow or grass
Snoozing in quiet, cool places
Getting deep ear scratches

You very much disapproved of:
Loud noises - like thunder & fireworks
Cameras with shutter sounds
Dogs with poor personal-space boundaries

We once got your DNA tested
45% Border Collie,
27.7% Aussie Cattle Dog,
11% Collie, and 16.3% Supermutt

You were really 100% Good Girl.

We never expected to lose you so quick
I've heard you can never be ready though
What I wouldn't give for just one more
Cuddle

Heartbroken. Shattered.

I'm slowly learning not to feel guilty
Like there was more I could have done
No amount of time would be enough
To bear losing you

I made a promise to love you forever
You gave me so much more
Everyone says their pup is perfect
All of them are right - you were perfect

I just have to trust you know
How IMMENSELY you are loved
Your pack misses you oh so much
You are forever my heart dog

Love ALWAYS, your non-fur Mama.
